This is book cover of the <The tale of Byeoksa lady> novel. The client requested an illustration of a lyrical mood in which the elements of ‘Byeoksa’. Byeoksa is Korean word which means a traditional Korean exorcism.
I drew an illustration of the novel cover of <The tale of Byeoksa lady>.

<The tale of Byeoksa lady> is an occult fantasy romance novel set in the Joseon Dynasty. At the request of the client, I have produced illustrations with materials that can infer the romance of characters and Byeoksa (traditional Korean exorcism).

Since it is a work of directly expressing the appearance of the character in the novel, I designed the appearance of the character and the objects described in the text, paying attention so that readers do not feel separated from the content and the picture.
(Eng)
(1) The draft that applies elements in the novel to the composition of a Joseon folk art. It expresses the romance of the two characters while looking at each other with bookshelves in between.

(2) The draft is based on romance as the main keyword. It expresses a romantic relationship with willow trees and hydrangeas flowers flying in the background of the night sky.

(3) I was inspired by the grim and strong image of the main character so made a draft of free expression. The props in the novel are arranged in harmony, conveying the expression of the protagonist in a close-up composition.

(4) In response to the request to add romance elements in the adoption draft, the final completion was made by adding a lover's appearance on the back cover.
